FRANKLIN MACHINE & GEAR CORPORATION

FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED SINCE 1974

Franklin Machine & Gear Corporation (formerly Franklin Machine Works, Inc) was founded in January 1974 by Earl L. Franklin.  The company began in a small warehouse near downtown Houston and quickly outgrew its location.  In September 1976 FMG moved to its current location in a northern suburb of Houston Texas.

In 1985, Earl bought Texas Gear & Manufacturing and hired its owner, Harold Sheppard to operate and manage Franklin Machine & Gear Corporation.  The company has expanded many times over the years and is now managed by two of Earl's sons, Eddy & Larry Franklin.

In Fall of 2015, Tom Patton joined FMG as General Manager with 30+ years of experience in gear manufacturing and is a great asset and addition to the team.

We are still growing!  In April 2023 we purchased adjacent property providing an additional 10,400 SF and in July 2023 FMG purchased Gamon Gear.  As of October 2024 we began construction for an expansion to our Gearbox Department adding an additional 6,000 SF with a 28ft height and a 20 ton overhead crane capacity.  Our facility now has a total of 51,400 SF with access from Frost Street, Dwyer Street and Lee Road for ample delivery access.  After the expansion the three buildings combined will contain six overhead cranes with a combined weight of 60+ tons between the two bays to handle any large needs that may arise.
